English poetry, Mindful

New War

Standing alone in a dim street,

Not knowing where to look,

Just as desperate as a lost soul,

Walking the derby poles,

Moving quietly to face fear,

Not so sure about the dare,

The cold seeping in pints,

The demise in staring light,

When that soft touch helps,

Gives the energy of lofts,

Shall I move forward,

With the full spirit onwards!
